The Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, and Adani Defence and Aerospace have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in fields of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and Large Language Models (LLMs). The move aims at boosting study, research and development of such technologies, specifically for the benefit of the defence sector.

The Memorandum of Understanding, or MOU, was signed by Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO, Adani Defence and Aerospace, and Professor Amit Prashant, Dean (Research and Development) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, in the institute campus.

As part of the pact, IIT Gandhinagar in association with Adani Defence and Aerospace will organise joint research workshops and projects for students, and also work on the development of prototypes. The collaboration is being viewed as one that should chalk out a significant strategy to further strengthen India’s security agenda.

Adani Defence and Aerospace is a part of the Gautam Adani-helmed Adani Group that has emerged as a leading force in the design, development and manufacture of defence applications ranging from guns and artillery to missiles and drone technology. The group has been at the forefront of bolstering the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat with its technological contribution to the country’s security agenda. Among the group’s initiatives in the create of a sturdy defence ecosystem is the setting up of a platform for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and start-ups to aid quality management and exports.

IIT Gandhinagar is among eight Indian Institutes of Technology that the Government of India opened in 2008. The establishment has consistently ranked among India’s best engineering institutes in polls by sundry national and global agencies.
