Gautam Adani (62) has emerged as the largest wealth gainer in India, according to the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, with a remarkable increase of nearly Rs 1 lakh crore in his net worth. His wealth surged by 13%, placing him in second position on the list, just behind Mukesh Ambani, who boasts a net worth of Rs 8.6 lakh crore.
Adani's journey began as a commodities trader, and he has since built a vast empire. Before the Hindenburg report, he ascended to become Asia's richest individual, with diverse business interests spanning ports, power generation, airports, mining, renewable energy, media, and cement.
Despite a decline of Rs 1 lakh crore in his wealth from the previous year, Ambani maintained his status as India's richest person, while Adani claimed the second position. Roshni Nadar of HCL made her first appearance on the list with a net worth of Rs 3.5 lakh crore, following her father Shiv Nadar's transfer of a 47% stake in HCL as part of a succession strategy. She stands out as the only woman among India's Top 10 wealthiest individuals.
Other rich Indians
Dilip Shanghvi's net worth increased by 21%, reaching Rs 2.5 lakh crore, which has elevated him to the fifth position. Mumbai tops the list with five billionaires in the top ten, while New Delhi has two, and Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Pune each have one.
India now boasts a total of 284 billionaires, an increase of 13 compared to the previous year.
