The Adani Airport Holdings Limited, or AAHL, has created a record by handling an unprecedented 10,13,115 metric tonnes of air cargo in the fiscal year 2023-’24 (FY24).
This accounts 30.1 per cent share of the market, Adani Enterprises submitted in a filing to the bourses, and marks a 7 per cent growth on a year on year basis. The figure stood at 9,44,912 metric tonnes in the previous fiscal year, or FY23.
INTERNATIONAL OPS DOMINATE
An impressive 65 per cent of the cargo operations handled by Adani Airport Holdings in FY24 was international. In terms of tonnage, this is a 9 per cent increase on a year on year basis, the filing shows, from 6,06,348 metric tonnes handled in FY23 to 6,62,258 metric tonnes in the current fiscal. The cargo handled by AAHL mainly comprised automobiles, electronics and electricals, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals and perishables.
AAHL operated out of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Jaipur International Airport, Mangaluru International Airport and Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, while significant destinations where it ferried cargo were Germany, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Adani Airport Holdings is India’s biggest airport infrastructure company and has eight airports in its portfolio of development and management. In all, AAHL takes care of 30 per cent of India’s air cargo traffic and 23 per cent of all passenger footfalls. The company was incorporated as a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Adani Group flagship, Adani Enterprises, in 2019. AAHL currently has 74 per cent stake in Mumbai International Airport Limited and that in turn has 74 per cent stake in the Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited, which is developing the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, scheduled to be commissioned by March 2025.
