Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday wrote a complimentary message on the social media platform X following a post from Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, which noted India’s defence manufacturing sector had increased by 16.8 per cent to reach Rs. 1,26,887 crore in the fiscal year 2023-24 (FY24), marking the highest-ever growth in the nation’s defence production value.
Defence Minister Singh also wrote that the Make In India programme was “crossing new milestones, year after year” under PM Modi’s leadership.
Praising the achievement, Prime Minister Modi wrote on his official X handle, @narendramodi: “Very encouraging development. Compliments to all those who have contributed to this feat. We are fully committed to nurturing a supportive environment to further enhance our capabilities and establish India as a leading global defence manufacturing hub. This will enhance our security apparatus and make us Aatmanirbhar!”
Earlier, elaborating on the defence industry’s Make In India achievement, Singh had posted on his official X handle, @rajnathsingh: “The Make in India programme is crossing new milestones, year after year, under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi. India has registered the highest-ever growth in the value of defence production in 2023-24. The value of production has reached to Rs. 1,26,887 crore in 2023-24 which is 16.8% higher than the value of production of previous financial year.”
Singh had also mentioned how the government of India is committed to making the country a “leading Global Defence Manufacturing Hub”, and congratulated all units in India that comprised the country’s defence industry.
“Many congratulations to our industry, including DPSUs, other PSUs manufacturing defence items and the Private industry. The Government is committed to create more conducive regime for developing India as leading Global Defence Manufacturing Hub,” Defence Minister Singh wrote on his X handle.
