In conversations with Bhupendra Chaubey, during their campaign for the crucial Lok Sabha election in Chandigarh, Congress candidate Manish Tewari said supporting Sanjay Tandon of the BJP would mean supporting an assault on democracy. In contrast, Sanjay Tandon, the BJP candidate, said the Congress candidate lacked substantial matters and lived in la-la land.

Tewari says that on winning the third term, the Narendra Modi government may "abrogate the constitution" and curtail people's freedom. Tandon dismisses Tiwari's apprehension, reminding The Squirrels of the emergency imposed on the country by the Congress when the fundamental rights of citizens were taken away.

Tewari justifies the talk of wealth redistribution suggested by the Congress in the name of "income inequality" that, according to him, increased in the past 10 years, whereas Tandon says this is rich coming from Tewari as the Congress leader merely idled through those two years, saying "many people died".

Tewari's message to the electorate of Chandigarh is that they should elect him because he can "articulate their concerns". The Congress candidate launched a scathing criticism against his BJP opponent in the crucial Lok Sabha election in Chandigarh. Tewari emphasised that supporting Tandon, the BJP candidate, would essentially be endorsing Anil Masih, who had undermined the democratic process in Chandigarh by manipulating the mayoral elections.

Candidate Tandon from the BJP claims that the Congress nominee lacks substantial issues and is also disconnected from the actual situation in the city. Tandon further states that as a result, the Congress is resorting to imitating others.
